Today will most likely be laundry day. Sadly, I don’t own a washer or dryer which mean venturing into the world of a Laundromat. Personally, I think college students should get a free laundry card from the government because I spend around 40 dollars a month on just laundry! I don’t think it’s the money that bothers me as much as the people who go into the Laundromat. Some people are very bashful, angry, dopey...ok so basically the seven dwarfs are the type of people you see in a Laundromat. I once had a guy ask me if I stole his socks! The best think I enjoy doing at the Laundromat is reading when I’m there. Something about the sound of the machines going, and that cold AC blowing on my face just engages my mind into whatever it is I’m reading. The biggest perk is that when I am reading the amount of people that would bother me is at least cut in half, and when someone does talk its usually “what are you reading” which is a question I love being asked! The whole process usually takes about an hour and a half. My mother would be very proud to know I actually fold my clothes when I’m there at least until I get home and dump them out onto my bed. I find myself enjoying laundry day every week because of the semi non-interrupted reading that can get done. I always add a few more quarters into the machines taking advantage of that extra pre-wash, or giving the dryer just another five minutes for my clothes to cool off just so I can finish the chapter I am on. Even if someone offered me a free washer and dryer I don’t think I could accept it because of my love for reading at the Laundromat.
I love this! There's definitely something quirky and slightly adventurous about the laundromat. ...Although I don't miss it at all.
